I am an Associate Professor within the Network Planning and Mobile Communications Laboratory, at the University of Cantabria.

I got the Telecommunications Engineer on 2002 and PhD (Suma Cum Laude) from the University of Cantabria on 2009. I have been granted with 2 (six-year) periods of research activity and 2 (five-year) period of teaching activity. Currently, my research is focused on the aspects of network technologies and communications of the Internet of Things (IoT) and its application to Smart Cities. I also work on the integration of these networks in the Semantic Web for the provision of services through the "Web of Things". My research activity, started in 2000, has been developed mainly in the framework of international research cooperative projects from the 5th, 6th and 7th Framework Program and Horizon 2020 of the European Commission, as well as the Celtic and ITEA programs or the CENIT program at the national level. In this sense, I have collaborated in more than a dozen of projects in the last 5 years. In addition to the research and technological development activities, in the projects in which I have collaborated, I have worked as technical coordinator of the project, leading and coordinating both the daily work of the different work packages, and the technological audits of the projects. In some cases, these projects had a budget of more than 10 million euros. Participation in these projects has led to a fluid exchange of knowledge and experience with European companies, research centers and universities. As a result of this work, I am co-editor of two chapters in a book by Springer and I have published scientific articles both in journals and international congresses of recognized prestige. In this sense, I should highlight the 15 publications in journals indexed in the Journal Citations Report and the participation in two of the major congresses in the area organized by the Communications Society, the PIMRC in 2010 and the ICC in 2014. In the first one, as a guest speaker at one of the panels of the congress and in the second one presenting a scientific article admitted within the Selected Areas in Communications symposium. I have also been invited to review articles from journals included in the first quartiles of the JCR and international congresses forming part of the organizing and program committee of the latter. Moreover, I have also participated as external expert reviewer for the French National Research Agency (ANR) evaluating research projects for competitive Calls. In the knowledge transfer aspect, I participated in the creation and, during its first years of operation, in the administration of a spin-off company that has among its objectives the transfer to the productive sector the knowledge and technology generated by the research that I develop within the research group to which I belong. In the teaching component, I have taught during the last twelve academic years at the university in first and second cycle, official undergraduate and graduate degrees and doctoral programs with positive evaluations of my activity every year. I have been Associate Professor since October 2011.
