I am a professor of Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science of the University of Cantabria.

Research areas:

Discrete and combinatorial geometry (oriented matroids, lattice polytopes, convex polytopes in general, triangulations of them)
Computational geometry (Delaunay triangulations, pseudo-triangulations)
Algebraic geometry (toric geometry, topology of real algebraic plane curves, decomposition of polynomials in sums of squares)

Member of the Scientific Committee of the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society (2010-2016 and 2021-).
Member of the steering committee of the Spanish Discrete Math Network.
Co-IP of the project Geometry and Algebra in Combinatorics -- Geometría y Álgebra en Combinatoria. (PID2022-137283NB-C21 of MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 / FEDER).

Einstein Visiting Fellow in the Discrete Geometry Group of Freie Universität Berlin (2016-2020).
Research Professor and Chair of the Organizing Committee in the Program on Geometric and Topological Cominatorics, MSRI Berkeley (2017).
Coordinator of the Doctorate program Mathematics and Computation, which was distinguished by the Spanish Science Ministry with an "Excellence Mention" (2010-2017).
Vicedean of the Faculty of Sciences, in charge of coordinating the Degree in Mathematics of my University. (2009-2013)
Director of the International Center for Mathematics Meetings (CIEM) in Castro Urdiales (2008-2010).
Member of the steering committee of the Spanish Topology Network (RET) (2013-2016).
Member of the steering committee of the i-MATH project (2008-2011).
Coordinator for Erasmus/Socrates program in Mathematics in my university (1996-2003).
